Seaway - Lula on the Beach

Green and blue, eyes on you, and now the temperature is rising. Hit the loud, settle down, head out the window, not surprising. I’m with Lula on the beach.

Go for a rip, take a dip, check out the polka dot bikinis. Fill my cup, say what’s up, the margaritas make it easy. Living easy. I’ll be honest, I’m not used to going out before the sun goes down. But now the haze is gone, I’m in a better place. I’m with Lula on the beach. You’ve been away too long, trapped in the glow of your old playstation. Go grab your board right now and let's hit the coast on a mini vacation. I’m with Lula on the beach. Feeling pretty, soaking heat. You can find us on our mini vacation. This is where I want to be. Here with Lula on the beach.

American Standards - Weep

Whether you can call it chaotic hardcore, mathcore or experimental metalcore, the noise-laden genre full of dissonant guitars and odd time signatures has had somewhat of a revival in the last few years.

While bands like Converge and Every Time I Die continue to release groundbreaking albums, newer acts such as Frontierer, Employed to Serve and The Armed serve up a fresh take on the style. This is where Phoenix, Arizona’s American Standards come in. Formed in 2011, the band has independently released four EPs and toured with some of the biggest names in and out of the extreme genre. Their newest offering 'Weep' was premiered May 18th, 2018 exclusively through Decibel Magazine.
The song, which could be teasing a new album to come, employs several of the staples that fans are accustomed to from instruments that erupt into chaos only to stop on a dime, to panic chords which lay the foundation for an unrestrained vocal delivered with the intensity of a screaming banshee. Where WEEP really shines though, is in its attention to song structure and dynamics. It’s these elements that give WEEP its replay value. Rather than being overly technical or heavy for the sake of heavy, it makes the song multidimensional, allowing listeners to really feel the emotion that the band speaks of below.

Mike Shinoda - Ghosts

She said
This is not about a poltergeist
Not about a phantom that glows at night
But there are things we don’t know and I
Don’t have another choice but an open mind / oh
And I know what they’ll say
I’m trying to make sense of what no one can explain

But I’ve been having dreams that after I’m awake
Play out in reality the very next day
So I play along
I nod my head when they say I’m wrong
But each night falls and away I run
On the other side till the daylight comes

And when the lights go down
I see things I can’t explain
Calling out my name
The lights go down
Holding every memory close
Tonight is for our ghosts
Ghosts

This is not about you and me
I can’t bring back how it used to be
And I know what I do believe but
I’ve already seen what I couldn’t see / oh
So I play along
I nod my head when they say I’m wrong
But each night falls and away I run
On the other side till the daylight comes
