Eyes Wide Open - Defining Me

Formed back in 2011 by guitarists Kristofer Strandberg, Erik Engstrand and bass player Jesper Lindgren in Karlstad, Sweden.

Eyes Wide Open has since carved their way into the halls of Swedish Metal. Pointed out as a Melodic death metal or metalcore band by different genre purist, but Eyes Wide Open’s soul lies within the melody, big choruses and their catchy riffs.

With ”And so it begins” the Eyes Wide Open trilogy is finally complete. Starting with ”Revelations” to tell us whats about to come if we continue to leech on this planet and ”Aftermath” how we may or may not live through it.

”And so it begins” takes on the perspective of today, where we stand with all of our problems like wars, environmental disasters and our addiction to luxury. Will the revelations come true?

With the sudden departure of vocalist Patrik Fahlin, Eyes Wide Open had to evolve and Erik stepped up as their new vocalist.

Erik says: People probably thought we were done for when Patrik left us, but we pulled through big time. And now I don´t hesitate to say we are better than ever. With ”And so it begins” we prove ourselves among the top players and now I´m just thrilled to get out there to kick some ass.

Five piece post-hardcore band from York, UK. Offering intense and hooky vengeful anthems, epic grandeur and crafty atmospheric moments. After two successful EP releases with 'Revise. Reform.' and 'March for the Sun', taking part in Slam Dunk Festival’s line-up and appearing on the pages of leading media institution that Rocksound is. The post-hardcore five piece is once again on the verge of showing everyone how modern melodic, yet dynamic music should sound with the release of the band’s first self titled album. The guys are getting prepared for a hectic row of gigs and tours that would hopefully help them make the next step, so you can be sure all of this is just the beginning of something very special.

The Retarded Rats - The Head and The Axe

In the deepest depth of Germany's wild, wild East three rats called Anna Killjoy, Mutant Ann and Invincible Vinc scraped their living by being tormented for new medical innovations for the human race. Chance brought it about, that in summer 2009 a huge detonation shook the ground and the rats were flushed out of the lab by a flood of strange, uninvestigated chemicals. To survive out there they started to play some rockin' instruments. Soon, they created some weird oldschool sounds and spread out to infiltrate the psychobilly scene and propagate their songs at festivals like the Satanic Stomp, the Psychomania Rumble or the Bedlam Breakout.

In 2012 guitar rat Invincible Vinc got lost in the jungle of subcultural music styles. A gloomy phantom called Flatty Killjoy joined the Retarded Rats adding more darkness and energy to their sound. In this constellation they recorded their first album „Lost In Space and Lost In Time“ which was released on Suzy Q Records. Till 2015 they played many gigs in Germany, England, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and Italy. In the same year they released their first 7inch „Underground Is Dead“ on Killjoy Records.

Unfortunately drum rat Mutant Ann's mind succumbs to the impact of the chemical treatment in the past. That's why Gordon Melmac joined the Retarded Rats on drums in November 2015. With him the trash'n'garage factor grew. The second album "Screams From The 10th Planet" was recorded, pressed on vinyl and promoted through a lot of shows in Europe. But Gordon couldn't handle the degenerating dementia that went hand in hand with the life on the road for a long time. In December 2016 Kris the Kid ascended the drum throne.

So prepare yourself for a wild and dirty psychobilly sound with trashy garage elements when the Retarded Rats come to your town!
