Burdens Within - Dead End Town
The video for “Dead End Towns” paints a haunting picture of a man who has not had the luxury to pursue his dreams. However, he still retains a sense of hope, as his love of music shows, despite these harsh circumstances. The story pairs well with shots of Burdens Within playing in front of an abandoned factory, which conjures up a sense of urban decay.
Delving further into the meaning of this powerful hard rock song, bassist Ryan J. Kline notes, “There are many ‘Dead End Towns’ across America with little hope beyond factories or fast food. This song/video is a tribute to those who aspire for something more.”

The song is not only a tribute to Nirvana's charismatic frontman, but it's also a reflection about the tendency to exploit and misread musical artists, transforming their personality into an icon. In fact, as often happens with charming musicians, Kurt Cobain was misunderstood on two levels: both with the moralistic opinion from who didn't understand the disease behind his drug addiction and suicide, and with the cynical reduction of his emotive and human complexity to a mere product to be sold. So "Cobain" isn't simply an imperative dedication to such an inspirational musician, but it's also an invitation to abandon every preconception about art, respecting the author behind it.
